Tired of having gone through another year with your Eating Disorder? Are you angry that your Eating Disorder held you hostage for 2019? Are you tired of the vicious cycles your Eating Disorder gets you involved in?
Before I move on, let me be clear, I don’t believe you only should set goals on New Years or that it’s the only time that you can set goals. However, since it is the season that everyone reflects on the past year and thinks about the New Year, I’m challenging you to think about what your ideal 2020 would look like without an Eating Disorder. When you’re thinking of what you’d like in 2020, please don’t hold back. Don’t let you hold yourself back with thinking about if it’s even possible. Write all of your thoughts in your journal. Now ask yourself these 2 questions: Do you want recovery this year? & What steps do you need to take to make this happen? This sheet can really help you to break down your big goal of Eating Disorder recovery into smaller, more actionable goals. Remember, don’t overwhelm yourself! Baby steps are perfectly fine and in fact, encouraged! If you keep taking steps forward, you will eventually get to your destination. I would encourage you to bring this sheet(s) into your next therapy appointment. It’s a great time to reflect and plan for the next year in treatment. If you don’t currently have a therapist, I would highly recommend that that is one of the first actionable goals of 2020. When finding a therapist, make sure you find someone who specializes in the treatment of Eating Disorders. Here’s a guide on how to find the right treatment! If you are looking to get treatment from myself, feel free to reach out to me and we can take your first step for treatment! 2020 is the year that you will work toward recovery!
